2nd “Innovate Africa” Symposium

The Statistics Department of the African Development Bank, in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), is organizing the second edition of the “Innovate Africa” Symposium from 2 to 4 October 2024 in Kigali, Rwanda. The theme of this year’s event is “Strengthening Data Governance in the African Data Ecosystem”.

The symposium will focus on recent and significant advances in data governance, aimed at benefiting the entire African continent. It will highlight the importance of robust governance frameworks for the use of data for socio-economic growth in the digital age.

The event will bring together government officials, representatives from universities, civil society, the private sector and international organisations. They will discuss ways of improving transparency, efficiency and innovation through effective data governance.

The programme will include plenary sessions and round tables, as well as parallel sessions exploring various dimensions of data governance. These sessions will cover innovation and strategy, platforms and processes, as well as case studies and technological demonstrations.
