Women Contemporary Artists of Africa (WCAA)

Date: From 1st to 18th March

Place: Bab Rouah Gallery in Rabat

From March 1 to 18, 2023, an international exhibition of contemporary African women’s art will be held at the Bab Rouah Gallery in Rabat, as part of the “Women Contemporary Artists of Africa” (WCAA). Nearly twenty women artists from Africa and the Diaspora will take part in the exhibition with contemporary artworks, which they will have created during an artistic residency organized in February 2023, by the Arkane association and aiming at enabling them to create new works, inspired by this special edition which celebrates Rabat as the African capital of culture 2022-2023.

To this end, a call for participation has been launched until 16 January 2023 for experienced contemporary women visual artists, African or of African origin, resident in an African country or from the diaspora, resident on the continent or outside the continent of Africa. The women artists will be selected by a selection committee to take part in the residency.

Concerning the exhibition, it should be noted that the opening will take place on 1 March at the Bab Rouah Gallery, with a thematic meeting between the artists and the public.
