The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is organizing the Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development (GFRID) Africa from June 16-18, 2021. Organized in collaboration with the African Union and the World Bank Group, the event will be held for three days at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya. It will discuss the opportunities and challenges present in the African remittance market and the impact that flows can have on the development of migrant communities of origin, especially in the context of the Covid-19 crisis. The forum will also address the topic of innovation and new technologies and how they can reduce the cost of remittances and promote greater financial inclusion in the perspective of implementing Goal 20 of the Global Compact for Global safe, orderly and regular migration and more broadly within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
More than 500 participants from governments, central banks, private sector, multilateral organizations and civil society are expected to attend this meeting.2021-06-16
