Judith Yah Sunday, the business executive managing Cameroon’s telecommunications


Since 2018, Judith Yah Sunday Achidi has been General manager of the state-owned company in charge of telecommunications in Cameroon, Camtel. She is one of the few Cameroonian female executives to lead a strategic public company in the country.

It was in 1994, after earning her degree in economics from the University of Quebec in Canada, that she began her professional career within the company, formerly called Intelcam, as an internal auditor. She held that position for 28 years. From 2006, she was promoted to several positions within the company, namely as North-West Marketing Director of Camtel. She also managed the company’s business operations in 5 of Cameroon’s ten regions.

In 2018, she was appointed by presidential decree as General Manager of Camtel, a company with more than 3,700 employees, with the mission of getting the public company back on track. In 2021, she was elected President of the Association of Central African Telecom Operators, an organization bringing together 9 countries. The platform which was created under the leadership of Camtel aims to contribute to the development of the digital economy and the digital transformation of the sub-region.

In 2024, she was elected President of the Regional African Satellite Communication Organization (RASCOM) at its 74th session held in Yaoundé in Cameroon, with the mission of putting her expertise at the service of the growth of the African satellite communications industry.

Judith Yah Sunday Achidi holds a DESS in international banking and finance from the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC) obtained in 1995 and a PhD from the University of Yaoundé II in 2015. From 2013 to 2017, she was Secretary General of the Governing Council of the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Audit (AFIA in Tanzania) and subsequently served as Vice President and Acting President.
